30 weeks!

Based on our handy dandy analytics tool that lets us know how many people are visiting the site I can tell that our faithful followers are screaming for an update.  Without further ado, here is what we’ve been up to.

On my end
Life is busy and it’s about to get much busier.  Aside from working the usual 9-5 I’ve been swamped with loads of side projects that are eating up my nights and weekends.  Between designing park district brochures, making new websites and photographing weddings and engagements I’m trying to find time to get the house ready for baby.  There is a long list of things we want to get done before he comes and since Madison is now a little more limited in the things we can realistically expect her to do, the burden (if you want to call it that) falls on me.  Luckily I’m up for the challenge.

Last weekend we finally got around to painting the nursery.  We went with the standard blue, but ventured out of our comfort zone and rocked a horizontal white stripe around the entire room.  It took way longer than I expected, but turned out great.  Now we just have to get some furniture and accessories in there to finish it off.

On Madison’s end
Our baby boy is growing fast.  At our last ultrasound his head was in the 93rd percentile with the rest of his body working to catch up.  We’re expecting a monster.  Doctor said that he has flipped to the head down position which puts us in good shape for a traditional birth.  Everything else checks out normal as well which leaves us optimistic that we’ll come out of this with a healthy newborn.

Although Madison will tell you her pregnancy has been without incident for the most part, I would tell you that she is experiencing the usual aches and pains more than she lets on.  Back pain and Braxton Hicks contractions plague her most days and the swollen ankles that almost all pregnant women experience is becoming more common for her as well.  She is a trooper though and rarely gives in to my pleas for her to slow down or let me help her.  I’ll be insisting a lot more now that the due date is looming around the corner.

On the horizon
We’re looking forward to 3 baby showers coming up:  one being thrown by our moms, one by Madison’s friends and one by her wonderful work crew.  I am incredibly thankful for the show of support and honestly don’t know how we could bring this baby into the world without the generosity of everyone involved.

We are also looking forward to a birthing class we’re attending in November to prepare us for the big day.  Although I’m confident I can do that weird breathing thing without a teacher (hee hee hoo), I know it’ll be mighty helpful to practice my diaper changing skills and whatever else they want to throw at me.

Thanks everyone for checking in.  We’ll continue to update as Seidler Baby Watch 2010 rolls on.

3rd Trimester!

Posted on by thedesignary Posted in Blog | Leave a comment

Well, we have finally reached our third trimester and couldn’t be more excited to be in the last stretch!  We had a great time at CornFest this last week…very tiring, but full from yummy food and great company!

The weather is cooling off more and more and both Tim and I are very excited about this as we LOVE fall.  We’re going to go to the pumpkin farm this weekend for our annual pumpkin picking and gourd selecting.  It’s a tradition I grew up with and something I looked forward to every year.  When Tim and I started dating, we started going together, and have gone every year.  It’s a great little place outside of Morris and it’s a lot of fun to get to wander around, eat lunch and enjoy fall!  We are excited to be able to bring the baby there next year for his first Halloween tradition!

Thanks for checking in!

So I had my 3 hour glucose test on Saturday morning…it was pretty exhausting and I was definitely feeling like a human pin cushion, but the good news is that I passed the test!  The doctor’s office called me early this morning to let me know that I’m in the clear there, which was a HUGE relief!  I’m happy to say that it was just a little inconvenience!

This weekend Tim designed the invite for the shower our moms are throwing us.  It turned out super cute and it’ll be nice to be able to put that in the baby’s book as something daddy designed for him!  Two of my friends are throwing me a “friend” shower in November and my boss is throwing me a “studio” shower, as well.  We are so blessed to have so many people surrounding us that want to help us prepare for the baby’s arrival.

On Saturday Tim and I went with friends, Cory & Suzanne, and Suzanne’s sister and brother-in-law, Brian & Amy to Benihana’s in Lombard. This a first time experience for both of us and we had a really great time.  It was nice to get out of Morris for dinner and we had a great time.  The food was delicious and watching them prepare it right before you was so neat!

In other news Tim and I came across a potential great opportunity to purchase a home just a block away from ours on Wallace St. in Morris.  It is a HUD foreclosure, so the benefit there is the chance to purchase for VERY cheap!  We put the bid in on Saturday morning, so we are hoping to hear back either today, or within the next few days at least.  If HUD accepts our bid, then we would have a pretty crazy road ahead of us because of the renovations that would be needed to live there…but we decided that we are putting our faith to the test here and taking a chance because the benefits far outweigh the inconveniences it would cause us for the next 2 months.

The baby has been super active lately.  It’s definitely a crazy experience feeling and seeing him squirm around in there.  It’s almost as if there’s an alien inside my belly!!  He is now weighing in at about 2.2 pounds, and is about 15 inches long…the length of a hothouse english cucumber!  Next week I’ll begin my third trimester, and I must say, I’m pretty excited about that!

This week is Cornfest – or as my dad calls it – CornDaze…the time in which the entire town of Morris forgets that they are civilized and drinks on the street, eats mass amounts of fried food and takes far too many vacation days in a row!  This years Cornfest will be a lot different for me, although I will definitely still enjoy the fried food!  It’s exciting to know that next year at this time, our son will be about 9 months, enjoying his first Cornfest, which is a sort of rite of passage when living in/growing up in Morris!

Thanks again for checking in on us!  We appreciate all the support we’ve received from all our family and friends during this crazy time!  It seems as though even more crazy changes are to come, but we are really excited about them and we realize that we just need to keep our faith strong that there is a plan for us and we will figure it out eventually!

Glucose update

Posted on by thedesignary Posted in Blog | 1 Comment

So…I did not pass my initial one hour glucose test. This is apparently not totally uncommon but nevertheless I have to go next Saturday to the hospital to do a 3 hour test to check again. Hopefully that’ll come back all clear and it’ll just have been an inconvenience!

Also here’s the newest picture of me and baby at 24 weeks 5 days. I’m definitely getting bigger – and so is he – weighing in at 1 lb 9 oz!

Well we are now 24 weeks 4 days and couldn’t be more excited about how quickly the pregnancy is progressing!

We had our monthly OB appointment this morning and did the glucose tolerance test. The orange flavored drink was less than yummy but I did choke it down within 3 minutes. The baby perked up within 5 minutes of that and was pretty crazy for about a 1/2 hour. The doctor said he’d know the results tomorrow and let me know either way the findings. I’m assuming all is well with my blood sugar because I’ve really felt fine.

We got to see our little guy today too and he is breech, which explains the kicks lower in my belly! The doctor said he still has plenty of time to turn around but we will need to re-evaluate in about 8 weeks what the situation is based on if he turns.

The baby is measuring right on track still…and so am I! Haha. The doctor said he thinks we are going to have a big baby, though…which is a good thing, I’d say!! Tim was a big baby for being a twin (6 lb 9 oz) and I was well over 8 lbs, so I’m guessing we are in for a big boy! The heartbeat was 138-140 which is very good too! It’s exciting to think that at our next appointment in October we will be in our third trimester!!

We are really enjoying the change in the weather. I’m happy that it’s less humid and Tim just LOVES fall so he is equally as happy. We are looking forward to these next few months and then meeting the baby around Christmas!!

Hope everyone enjoyed their Labor Day weekend! And Tim says hi!
