Future Olympian

Yesterday was Valentine’s Day.  It was also Cohen’s first day of gymnastics.  It was difficult to get a whole lot of pictures and videos because I had to supervise, but I was able to snag a few.

The class is essentially open gym with the the direction of an instructor.  They started the 40 minute class with a little warm up.  Basically they stand in a circle and follow along with a sing a long song.  Cohen just ran wild during this part because he was so excited to just be in the class on the bouncy floor.  At one point he actually stood in the middle of the circle and did a little “dancing,” which is just bouncing. And super cute.

After that it’s about 15 minutes of stations…or just running around.  They have balance beams, cheese mats, hula hoops, tunnels, etc.  Cohen loved this one mat that was a octagonal sphere, and basically it would act as a steamroller to help him somersault – which is his favorite thing ever!

Sorry for the poor iPhone quality of the photos.  I had forgotten to take my real camera out, so this was the best I could do!

The second half of gymnastics includes time walking across the balance beams to a trampoline tumble track.  There’s a foam pit at the end of the track.  While Cohen wasn’t completely sure what to think of that, he did love the trampoline and actually got the hang of it pretty quickly!

We spent the rest of Valentine’s Day hanging out at home and running some errands. Because Tim’s gone for a work conference, we didn’t do anything out of the ordinary. But all in all it was a good Valentine’s Day.

It’s actually so crazy to see how far he’s come from last Valentine’s Day when he was just 2 months old. And it was also the first night he slept in his crib through the night! Now he’s 14 months old and takes gymnastics. Seriously, where is the time going?!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Sporting his Valentine’s Day jammies – all the girls do adore him.  Unfortunately I didn’t get a good shot of either of the Valentine’s t-shirts he wore yesterday, so we will have to set up a time to snap a pic of him in his “Most Eligible Bachelor” shirt which he wore to gymnastics, or his “Mommy’s New Man” shirt he wore the rest of the day!

Today Tim comes home – or late tonight, rather – but we couldn’t be more excited!  He then gets a 4 day weekend, which is also very exciting!  Not sure what our plans are, but we will just be happy to have him home!
