Thanksgiving Recovery

Posted on by thedesignary Posted in Blog | 2 Comments

Well now that we have made it through another holiday – Cohen’s last “first holiday” – if that makes any sense at all, I thought I should stop in and see how everyone else is recovering from Turkey Day festivities. Now that we are nearing Cohen’s first birthday (he will have made it through a full year of holidays…sniff sniff). I still can’t believe he’s almost one! Holy cow!

So Thanksgiving — We hosted at our house – for nearly 30 people – and that made for quite the feast (and the mess) – but so much fun! Cohen wasn’t sure what to think about everyone being in the house, but he was such a good boy and was really none-the-wiser to schedule changes and the hustle and bustle. It was wonderful to be able to see Tim’s parents for the past week. It’s always great to have family around the house – and Cohen sure does love spending time with them.

Climbing that hill…

I cannot believe that our boy is 11 months old today. Only one more month until the Earth has rotated around the sun once again. And a year since I went into labor. And since our boy was born! It’s just unbelievable. A year has never gone so quickly in my entire life. I’ve been working on sorting photos, trying to find the “best of the best” to print, since we have like 7 printed from Cohen’s entire first year of life, and it sure has made me weepy. ha. He’s gotten so big, so quickly, and no matter how much I tell him he should take a break from getting smarter, and older, but he just doesn’t listen! He just keeps on keepin’ on. So because I’m clearly feeling oh so nostalgic tonight, I thought I’d include just a couple photos of Cohen I came across today (in the 0-2.5 month range). From when he was bald. And immobile. But still oh so cute! I’m sure there’ll be many more retrospectives over the next month, while I’m going through photos! Hope everyone’s enjoyed their Monday evening!

Cohen’s First Craft

Last week Cohen and I attempted to create his first art project.  I purchased some Crayola Washable Kid’s Paint Set of 10, along with an 11×14 tablet of craft paper at Hobby Lobby and thought it would be a fun way to get some personal artwork around our house (not to mention how fun it’ll be to have something like this when he’s much older).

A Grand Opening

Last week my mom invited us to the Open House Grand Opening of the new Mendota Hospital.  Cohen and I went out there and got the grand tour by the Surgical Services Manager herself (aka my mom), had some dinner in the cafeteria and showed Cohen off to any and all visitors, employees, etc.  The new hospital is absolutely gorgeous and such an upgrade from their current facility. Granted, just about anything would be an upgrade from their current 1950s-nurses-should-still-be-wearing-skirts-cardigans-and-hats because it’s never been updated facility.

Snapped this as Cohen and I were walking up to the front door!

Wreathing havoc…

A few weeks ago I was ready for some holiday decorating to begin around the house.  I was perusing Katie Bower’s blog when I came across her Craft-mas projects she’s done in the past.  I was super excited to come across a wreath.  It definitely seemed like something I could make, especially with my recent crafting binge.  I read around a few different places, to find the best tutorial and here’s what I came up with.  I would need the following items: wreath (I used a 14′ straw wreath – still wrapped in the plastic), yarn (Vanna White’s – who knew she “made” yarn?), felt (for my rosettes -wanna know how to make those) and any other embellishments you’d want to add to the wreath once complete.  I chose a gold, glittery wreath pick.  I ended up having to cut part of the metal off to make it a little shorter than it was.
